11th Fire (5/20/16)

Tarok, Third-Week, Tenth-day, the Now-Year

The PCs are invited to a village feast, which all of the residents of Place-of-Scales are attending to welcome them. The atmosphere quickly turns festive, with various characters getting inebriated, and others, namely Yukkbutt, peeling off for other physical activities hosted by Shaul Luthrang in her caverns. Suddenly, the party is ended when a vast shadow descends over the riverside gathering, turning many of the assembled into quivering, nervous wrecks. It appears to be a green dragon, and it accosts the dragonborn of Place-of-Scales to turn upon and feast on the guests. Chief Wralasar and a few others try to hold their people at bay, but large arguments break out, with many of the stronger male and female warriors wanting to cap off the party by consuming our heroes! SlakeThirst is unphased, and fires an eldritch blast at the uninvited dragon, but misses. Eventually, most of the group is rallied and sent south of the village, except Yor who flees elsewhere.

The heroes decide no to wait any longer, and travel several hours through the night along the Whipwater, finally coming to rest before they arrive at their cliffside destination.

Hathun, First-Week, First-day, the Now-Year

The PCs arrive at the rocky falls where are expecting to locate the rebel Pergeron, and do indeed spot four dragonborn in the area, with a pen of animals they are using as livestock. They engage these berserkers in combat, and take some serious damage, but manage to defeat them, although they claim that Pergeron is long dead and that they know nothing of SlakeThirst's father, save that he went off to serve Saurvas. The PCs have a look around, after the livestock are butchered by SlakeThirst, and decide to take a detour to find the potential climbing gear that ogres were supposedly using to scale the Plateau for a potential invasion. They venture south and find an unusual, obese man 'fishing' for birds off the side of the Plateau. It does not seem an effective gambit, but nonetheless, Gorio parlays with the PCs for some time. It appears he has a thing in common with Cynjak, and offers her some counsel on the curse afflicting her, before bidding adieu to the party, who turns back to the north.

They decide to explore the falls further before heading north along the cliff face, and lo and behold, discover an opening that leads to natural caverns which run under the pool where the fall-water has gathered. In the first large, open cavern, they find viscera from livestock...and are surprised when a stalagmite animates and attacks them with tendrils! The battle presses on...

NPCs

Gorio (wereboar male): An enormously obese man wearing loose fitting hide trousers and a leather vest that is split across its seams. His many-chinned, many-jowled face is covered in boils and warts, and he has a mullet-like hairdo after shearing the sides of his head himself. Claims he can drink rainwater from a reservoir he makes with his own stomach flag. Enjoys 'birding', or suspending a live mouse on a fishing line over the edge of the Cleft Plateau to attract birds of prey. Seems to have an affinity with Cynjak, 'smelling on her' the same curse which afflicts him.
